After a barren run that lasted 25 hours and 41 minutes, Fernando Torres finally found the back of the net in Chelsea’s FA Cup win over at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues led 2-0 at the break after goals from Gary Cahill and Salomon Kalou. Torres scored the first of two goals in the 67th minute, after good work from Raul Meireles. He was also on hand to head home Meireles’ corner kick at the far post.
Torres then passed up an opportunity to grab a hatrick when he unselfishly squared for Meireles to slot home.
Tyson Beckford and Ben Marshall grabbed the consolation goals for the visitors.
Chelsea have now qualified for the semi-finals of this season’s FA CUp and Roberto Di Matteo maintains his 100% record as Chelsea manager.
