98 year-old man, 95 year-old woman set Guinness wedding record

Two American couples have broken a Guinness World Record for the 'largest combined age of a marrying pair'

Lillian Hartley, 95 and longtime partner Allen Marks a 98 year-old business mogul got married on Wednesday (leap day), at a local County Administrative Center in California which was witnessed by friends and families, local media reported.

Both Lillian and Allen however said that although setting the record is welcoming, they are in it for the sake of love, happiness and long lasting memories with the little days they have to spend on earth calling themselves  'the Romeo and Juliet of senior citizens'
"I don't know what will happen. I want to be together for all eternity, and I'm not taking any chances," Hartley was quoted as saying.

The couple claimed they have been informed by the record gathering outfit that their ages combined well enough to beat previous record holders a 96-year-old man and his 94-year-old partner in France, 2002.
Although it can be confirmed they've set the record for largest combined age of a marrying pair (unofficially), the record gathering outfit, Guinness will require official documentation of their ages and wedding before being given the title (officially).

8 year-old boy caught driving SUV

WELLINGTON, - The parents of an 8-year-old boy caught driving a sport utility vehicle in New Zealand said they had no idea he had sneaked the joy ride.

The boy, whose name was not reported, was spotted driving in his pajamas by other motorists early Friday morning in Wellington, The Dominion Post reported.

Another driver blocked the boy and called police.

When officers arrived, the boy, who was crying by this point, told them he was having trouble sleeping and went out to visit his friends.

The police took the boy home and scheduled a meeting with the boy's parents and a Child, Youth and Family staff member for later this week.

"It's definitely not every day that minors as young as eight are behind the wheel. However, this is of concern to us and we are liaising further with the boy's parents to ensure he is aware of the risks involved," acting Wellington emergency response manager Paris Razos said.

Lesbian couple gets apology, free drinks after restaurant boot

Kenyata White and Aeimee Diaz were celebrating their anniversary at the American Kitchen & Wine Bar in downtown Phoenix this week when they were suddenly asked to leave the restaurant for "inappropriate behavior." But after an uproar on Facebook and other social media sites, the lesbian couple has been welcomed back with open arms -- and free drinks.

The Arizona Republic reports that the couple was asked to leave the restaurant, which is in the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel, after the two women were seen hugging and kissing at their table. A manager approached them to tell them their behavior was "inappropriate," and making other customers "uncomfortable."

"My partner and I were reminiscing," White told the Arizona Republic. "I had my arm around her neck, and she had her hand around my waist. I gave her a hug for about a minute, pulled myself away to give her a quick kiss, and then we continued talking."

White posted about the incident on her Facebook page and received an overwhelming response of support from the online community. Representatives of the hotel then met with the couple to apologize for the incident.

"We had the opportunity to meet with the couple late (Tuesday) to listen to their story and better understand their view and how they felt," hotel General Manager Leo Percopo said in a statement. "We had a collaborative conversation, and both parties are taking this incident seriously. Together, we have identified opportunities in which both parties can unite and work together to foster diversity awareness."

White said the couple was not only invited back the next day, but offered free drinks as partial recourse.

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton also posted on his Facebook page about the incident, writing: "In our city, diversity is our strength and we support our LGBT friends, family and neighbors. We fully expect the Sheraton, which also has committed their support to our LGBT community, to work with Equality Arizona and resolve this issue in a professional way with their staff. Let's be completely clear -- Phoenix is a gay-friendly city and we welcome the LGBT community, not only because it is good business but also because it's the right thing to do."

This was not the only incident of public discrimination to impact a lesbian couple this week.  The Washington Post reports that a woman attending her mother's funeral at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland, was denied communion when the Rev. Marcel Guarzino told Barbara Johnson that she and her partner were living in sin. Guarzino then walked out on Johnson's eulogy and did not attend burial services. While Johnson has received a formal letter of apology from another member of the church, she said she is still insisting that Guarzino be removed from the parish.

Still, this has also been a week of positive news for gay and lesbian couples. Yahoo! News' Liz Goodwin wrote on Monday about a gay Marine's homecoming kiss that has since gone viral.

Guess you so wishing for this waist...................Romanian model Ioana Spangenberg is so little in the middle that a British tabloid has dubbed her "The Human Hourglass."

Spangenberg, 30, said her 20-inch waist comes by way of Mother Nature and not by dieting.

"When I was 13 my waist was around 15 inches," she told The Sun. "Someone could put their hands around it, their fingers would touch and they would still have extra room."

"In Romania it is better to be overweight, because that means you are from a wealthy family," she said.
The 5-foot-7 Spangenberg found success online modeling her extreme figure with corsets but sighs over the fact that she can't seem to put on just a few pounds. She blames her "small stomach" and not her eating habits."I would still like to gain weight so I don't look so shocking," she said. Lagos Lady Loses Eyes After Acid Attack By Desperate Suitor

When Alabi Olokode made advances to Lateefah Adesope, a National Diploma holder, the lady simply turned him down on the grounds that her heart was not with him. Olokode persisted, but Lateefah maintained her stand. This, however, did not go down well with the desperate suitor.

Lateefah set out for mosque as usual and around 5.30am on December 30, 2011, for her prayers. She said, “I was on my way to say my morning prayers at Tekunudeen Mosque, Aboru on Friday, December 30, 2011, when Olokode, who was hiding near the mosque, suddenly called my name. As I turned back, he poured a liquid substance on my face'.

“The liquid went straight into my eyes and started burning my face. At that time, I didn’t know it was acid but I just realised that I couldn’t open my eyes because of the burning sensation I was having’.

“When I started screaming, people around me confirmed it was acid because the substance consumed part of my veil”.

Lateefah was taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja. After spending a few weeks at the LASUTH, Lateefah was told by the attending doctor that she would not be able to see again.

Lateefah’s mother, Haulatu, who spoke to PUNCH amid tears, said she had to take her daughter to another hospital for a second opinion. “I took my daughter to Antilla Catholic Hospital Eye Centre, Agege, and the doctors told us that if she had been brought earlier, Lateefah would not have lost her sight”.

However, the LASUTH management denied complicating Lateefah’s case and insisted that she was properly attended to. The Public Relations Officer, LASUTH, Mr. Dele Johnson, said the hospital remained one of the best in the country.

Lateefah, who sobbed uncontrollably, told PUNCH that life had been unbearable ever since her ordeal. She said, “I didn’t offend Olokode in anyway, he had been making advances at me and I refused to date him. So, he decided to destroy my life".

“I cannot see again, I have no fiancé, no child and all my dreams and aspirations seem like a fairytale. “I was still trying to gather money to go back to school so I’ll be able to take care of my family but now I’ve become a liability to my family”.

Her mother, who spoke amid tears, said the family had spent all their savings on medical bills. She said, “Olokode was a customer at my canteen and had been telling me since last year that he wanted to marry my daughter but I thought he was joking”.

“When he persisted, I told my daughter and she said she was not interested in him. I didn’t know he would go to such length to register his grievance. “I am a widow, I have six children and no husband, we’ve spent all our savings on hospital bills and still she may never see again”.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Joseph Jaiyeoba, said Olokode had been arrested.  He said, “Policemen attached to the Oke-odo Division were able to arrest Olokode on Sunday following a tip-off”.

“The suspect denied the allegations and said he was her boyfriend. He has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, and investigation is ongoing”

Finally Wizkid upload his 'baby's picture?

Contrary to media reports that Nigerian recording artist and Empire Mates Entertainment recording outfit star, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun a.k.a Wizkid has uploaded his baby's picture, Shawttynatt can at this point confirm it as untrue.
Though previous report revealed that the artist recently uploaded a picture of himself and 'his baby' on Social Networking site, Facebook with the caption ‘I love my baby’ sending fans of the young entertainer to debate on the resemblance status between himself (Wizkid) and the possibility of the baby being his much controversial (but untrue story) of his estranged son.

It has however been confirmed that the baby is not the artist's son but his nephew.

The father of the artist, Mr Balogun, who staunchly denied the rumour and revealed that the publications were nothing but false, untrue, fallacious and a fabricated attempt to bring down the ever rising EME singer.

The talented young artist who last year notched several awards strongly debunked media allegations which claimed that the singer had impregnated a girl during his early days in music before finally donning the helm of stardom.

The artist was recently landed a recording deal with American recording outfit, Convict Music, owned by R&B singer, Akon.

Yomi Casual dedicates Awards to AY

Nigeria’s hottest New Fashion Designer of the Year, Yomi Casual has dedicated his first major awards to his brother, mentor, and one of Nigeria’s exceptional standup comedians and event planners – AY.

The Awards hit Yomi Casual’s shelves in four months underscoring the elegance and originality his Casual designs Inspires. In November 2011, Yomi Casual won the Fashion Designer of the Year Award courtesy the Nigeria Youth Merit Award in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, and in February 2012, he won the Hottest New Fashion Designer Category of City People’s Entertainment Awards.

Officially dedicating the Awards to his brother at a thank-you visit to AY’s Lekki office, Yomi Casual (accompanied by his creative staff and stunning models ) said “AY is a blessing to me, a present help for me,
my first (unpaid) brand Ambassador, and if I may proudly say, my volunteer Chief Marketing Director. AY can’t live a week without wearing Yomi Casual. And the interesting thing is that he doesn’t even allow him design clothes for him free of charge. Only few brothers in this world would mentor, encourage and promote talents and prowess of their siblings like AY has done Yomi Casual.”

At the visit and before presenting a slide show of his collection to his mentor-brother, Yomi Casual told everyone present that most of his clients are showbiz personalities in Nigeria, Africa and the world over and all have either been referred to him by AY because “they see how good my design looks on him.”

“I have clothed Ali Baba, Sammy Okposo, Da Prince (of Mohits) Majid Michel (of Ghana), Ramsey Noah, Desmond Eliot, Susan Peters, Big Brother’s Kevin Chuwang Pam, Uti Nnwachukwu, and many more celebrities, all friends of and referrals from my loving brother, AY. Today, Yomi Casual is probably the most advertised fashion designer in Africa because week in, week out, you see me on The AY Show on TV here in Nigeria, in the UK and especially all over Africa on Africa Magic. And when people will ask how much it cost to get my advert on TV, I tell them I don’t know because big ‘bross’ AY is the one paying the bills.

“Through AY, also, I have clothed top politicians, Media Executives, Diplomats, and captain of industries. So when the Award came rolling in and they were not from just some pedestrian Award organizers, I decided to dedicate them to the biggest brother anybody could as for: AY.

Responding, AY says he owes his late parents the responsibility of “taking good care of all my siblings.”

“I know they will be very proud of Yomi Casual right now just as I am very, very proud that from the creative boy who makes and sells Greeting Cards for N1,000 in Warri, Yomi Casual has transformed to the Hottest New Fashion Designer in a country with thousands of young and very talented Fashion Designers at that. It is an act of God and I’m happy for him.”

The Visit ended on an emotional note when Yomi Casual handed over the Awards to AY, when they hugged each other in a warm embrace, and when little drops of thankful tears dropped from the eyes of the two very creative and very industrious brothers.

Drama as madman enters MMIA tarmac

The porous state of the nation’s airports was again laid bare on Monday evening as a man believed to be mentally unstable beat all security points and gained access to the restricted area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The mad man broke the glass at the boarding gate after beating all security checks, according to sources at the nation’s flagship airport.
After getting to the airport tarmac, the mad man was said to have started shouting “I want to go abroad; I want to go to Europe. Please give way for me to go.”
Sources at the scene said intending passengers feared the man was a terrorist and started scampering for safety.
The noise, it was gathered, alerted security operatives of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria who came to the scene and overpowered the intruder.
The General Manager, Public Affairs, FAAN, Mr. Akin Olukunle, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with our correspondent.
He said the man had been arrested and handed over to the police for interrogation.
Olukunle stated that if it were established that the ‘passenger’ was mentally challenged the police would take him to the rehabilitation centre for treatment.
He said, “The arrested person was a lunatic who wanted to travel out of the country by all means. But, he was immediately overpowered by the security operatives attached to the airport.
“After investigation, and if confirmed he was mad, he would be taken to a rehabilitation centre.”

TOBI gets new premiere date∙ As U.S-based producer arrives in Nigeria

Buoyed by his quest to consolidate on the standard set by previous Nigerian movies shot on foreign soil, Nigeria 's emerging producer, Emmanuel Ijeh has revealed that the premiere of the movie, TOBI (a Nigerian movie shot in New York and New Jersey ) has been rescheduled for May 18, 2012.
It would be recalled that the premiere of the movie had earlier been set for April 13, 2012 but coming on the heels of a deliberate move to ensure that Nigerians enjoy the best of both Nollywood and Hollywood , the date of the official premiere of the film was inevitably shifted to May 18.
Here in Nigeria , the movie already has the blessings of a cross section of entertainment figures, showbiz personalities and many others who have expressed their eagerness to see the movie finally arrive in Nigerian cinemas.
Some of those who have openly given a nod of approval to the movie include Mr. Nigeria 2007, Bryan Okwara, popular singer, Muma Gee and the Most Outstanding Runway Model, Nigerian Models Achievers Awards (NMAA) 2011, Ejiro Jalogho also known as Crozz; even as the list continues to grow.
Interestingly, the producer, Ijeh recently arrived in Nigeria (precisely March 4, 2012) to ensure that plans are in top gear for the premiere of a movie that would further edge the face of the Nigerian movie industry on the rocks of brilliance and recognition.
The dark-skinned film maker further revealed that the movie TOBI was born out of his conviction that Nigerian stories should no longer be confined to the walls of Nollywood as he strongly believes that the bridge erected by movies like Ije, Mirror Boy and a host of others should be extended and strengthened by consistently keeping the oils of creativity and originality greased through hard work, commitment and dedication.
TOBI is a movie that captures the pillars of our individual choices, the height of sacrifice, the priceless nature of a sound education, the curse of nemesis and how we must all understand that when sorrow comes, they come not as single spies but in battalions.
The suspense-filled movie explores the consequences of what happens when 21-year-old Tobi (Mark Williams) tows the thin line between goodness and malevolent evil. In a flash, a simple life gets filled with gang pressure, violence, loaded weapons, bloodshed, murder, drugs, parental challenges and a flurry of conflicting voices.
On a flip side, the essence of love, family and the thematic colour of sacrifice also swim into perspective.
Meanwhile, the director, Bethels Agomuoh further bridges the gap between the Nollywood and Hollywood by shooting a Nigerian picture in the United States with a healthy blend of American and Nigerian cast.
TOBI has been scheduled to premiere in Nigerian cinemas on May 18, 2012 and will feature a red carpet premiere in Lagos .
The movie is proudly supported by Ozone Cinemas, Silverbird Cinemas , Nigeria Films, Blue Pictures, Emani Studios, City Mall, Moonfaceonline Magazine, Genesis Deluxe Cinemas, DSTV, Acada Magazine, Showbizhub247, Simply Samad MEDIA, Xi Concepts, Swish Interactive and a growing list of others.

Synopsis
This drama explores the story of 21-year-old Tobi (Mark Williams) and the pillars of his individual choices, the height of sacrifice, the priceless nature of a sound education, the curse of nemesis and how we must all understand that when sorrow comes, they come not as single spies but in battalions.

Cast
Mark Williams                          (as Tobi)
Chet Bashari Anekwe               (as Tobi's father)
Chisom Oz-Lee                        (as Tobi's mother)
Jimmy Allen                              (as Tobi's brother)

Producer – Emmanuel Ijeh
Director – Bethels Agomuoh

Review
Not the kind of story that would instantly fire up the bolts of momentary anticipation but the dramatic twists, suspense and sterling interpretation of roles by some of the cast scores high on the pages of a dramatic epic. Ironically, in place of the main story, the theme of blood bonding between brothers and the cards of sacrifice and selflessness touch a more sensitive cord.

Lobatan!...D'banj and Don Jazzy Break Up?

According to Daily Times, it was reported that D'Banj and Don Jazzy are on the brink of splitting up due to creative and personal differences. A source close to both parties has revealed that the relationship between the two is now so fractured that Don Jazzy has since moved out of the mansion they once shared in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

Don Jazzy, according to the source, has become so frustrated with D'banj's lifestyle, tantrums and unmanageable ego that he refuses to work with him. D'Banj, for his part, feels Don Jazzy is spending more time honing the careers of the Mo Hits fledglings such as D'Prince and Dr. Sid.

He has also accused Don Jazzy of delaying his album release by giving "excuse after excuse."

"D'Banj has an album due this year," the source said. "He wants Don Jazzy to spend all his time working on his own album. Can you believe that Don Jazzy spent only two days working on Wande's new singles?"

The source added that D'banj has also made several disparaging remarks about some of the Mo'Hits crew who he calls "backup singers." He has also made several less than complimentary comments about Don Jazzy who he accused of going around in "pyjamas and t-shirts."

Bad blood, GOOD Music.

Although tensions have simmered between the once inseperable maestros for about two years, things went quickly downhill last year following the deal signed with G.O.O.D music, Kanye West's record label.

An investigation revealed that the terms of the agreement are far more in favour of the producer, Don Jazzy, a realization which has irked the artist.

The source confirmed the disparity in the deal's structure and revealed that D'Banj's involvement is peripheral which has led to major problems between the two. The deal also involves a financial commitment of up to $3M, which Mo'Hits has not yet fully made up.

"When we all celebrated the deal last year, little did we know that it was really Don Jazzy that was being signed up," the source said.

"While Don Jazzy has already produced a track for G.O.O.D Music, D'Banj is just waiting around idly."
Cracks in the duo's relationship became apparent last year when both of them arrived and sat separately to several awards ceremonies. In the past, the two had always shown a very unified stance in public.

Politically poles apart.

D'Banj, real name Dapo Oyebanjo, has come under fire from fans in recent months following his perceived nonchalance to the fuel subsidy and Occupy Nigeria protests. In a recent interview, the artist dismissed the criticism, saying that he was busy shooting a new video at the time the protests broke out.
Don Jazzy, on the other hand, quickly identified with the masses by stating his displeasure with the Goodluck Jonathan administration on his Twitter page.

The news of the impending separation will come as a major shock to millions of devoted fans who have come to identify the one with the other.

Any hopes of reaching reconciliation have been dashed according to the source who said that the pair can no longer work together.

"Things are so bad now that there are many shows that D'Banj does where he does not remit any money to Mo'Hits," the   source said. "He accuses Don Jazzy of being too laid back and not attending meetings and negotiations but still feels entitled to collect fifty percent."

The source added that Sunday Are, who used to represent the duo, now only works exclusively for Don Jazzy after D'Banj turned his back on him.

"The only people he is really close with now are Ikechukwu and Bankuli," the source said.

It remains to be seen what the long term implications are for the Mo'Hits record label but D'Banj has wasted no time in launching his own record label which he plans to release his album on.
