“Justin wasn’t gay. He only wanted attention,” – John Fashanu

Former Wimbledon striker John Fashanu, has claimed in an interview that his brother wasn’t gay, but craved for attention.
“I don’t believe he was gay. Number two, I don’t believe he had affairs with MPs and number three I don’t believe he was having an affair with one of the young ladies from Coronation Street – it was just nonsense. Showbiz,” Fashanu said. “If you had a brother who came out and said, “Hey listen, I’m gay” we’d welcome you, say “No problem” but if you had someone who came out and said, “I’m a spaceman” when you’re not a spaceman then that’s a bit silly.”
Justin Fashanu is still the only professional football player that has come out in the UK to reveal his sexual orientation. John is of the opinion that the trend will not change anytime soon.
“It’s a macho man’s game and I think there are reasons why we haven’t had any gay footballers come out,” he said. “I don’t believe there will be. I’m not saying there aren’t some there, but I can tell you in twenty years of playing all my matches I have never come across a gay footballer.
“I’m not someone who says, “I’ve got black friends, they’re all good people.” I’m not going to say “I’ve got gay friends, who are all good people.” It’s unfortunate because I don’t believe he was, and if he was, who gives a rat’s a***? So what? But don’t go and sell your stories or make up stories for money for goodness sake. I’m heterosexual, will I make it on to the front page of the newspapers?”
Speaking about his daughter who is currently working on a project about gay footballers, Fashanu said: “My daughter was very close to her uncle and it has taken a long time for her to understand that Justin wasn’t really gay, he just wanted attention. I remember Justin coming out with another story about him dating Coronation Street lady as well. Again, that was another made up story to get front pages. When I said this to Justin he’d say, “I need publicity, I need publicity.” That was where he’d derive his attention and his money.
“It wasn’t the fact of him being gay, or whether he’s white or whether he’s black, that was never a concern to me whatsoever. What was a concern to me was somebody going and screaming on the rooftops ‘I’m black’ or ‘I’m heterosexual’ or ‘I’m gay’ to get publicity or money. Making up stories to get attention.”
He also admitted that his relationship with his brother who took his life in 1988 wasn’t the best.
“Strained, I would say,” he said. “I had to look at my mother who had cancer at the time, I had to take the mantle of being head of the family because Justin was not acting accordingly. My mum could not understand for the life of her she couldn’t understand this man, her son, so I made it clear that I could do whatever’s necessary to protect my family.
“Some people might say it’s selfish, my daughter said to me, “You’re my Daddy, I love you, but you were selfish, you disowned your brother.” I said, “I didn’t disown my brother, but I pushed him further away because of the challenges that he was going to bring into our family.”’

Rihanna is already the proud bearer of 15 tattoos but now the pop star has added a new design to her collection.
The 24-year-old showed off a controversial creation that is likely to split opinion in terms of taste.
The Rude Boy singer has new eye-catching cross tattoo which she had done last night on the Lower East Side, in New York City.

Rihanna went to her good friend and long time tattoo designer Bang Bang for the art work, which coincided with the legendary tattooist opening his new store.

The pictures show the singer posing with a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses and wearing a bandana while she displays some of her other symbols.

Describing the experience, Bang Bang said: 'We did a very fine small cross directly on her collarbone. She said her cross meant a lot to her and she totally loved it!'

The fresh tattoo is still raw and appeared to be coloured red as it sits just below the star's neckline.

This is the 16th design Rihanna has added to her body but it is only the second tattoo that represents any religious links.

We broke the news that Karen Igho refused to be part of a photoshoot for the cover of an Abuja-based magazine, Miss Dee, as she allegedly refused to work with and Vimbai ex BBA housemate. Today on Twitter, Channel O presenter, Denrele Edun tweeted in defence of Karen. Here's a reply from Vimbai's reps

Today on Twitter, popular presenter Denrele Edun made some statements, supposedly in defence of his friend and BBA winner, Karen Igho and made some statements.
Vimbai would love to clarify some facts and state the following:
First, she appreciates the show of support Mr Denrele Edun has portrayed for his friend, Karen Igho especially in times like this that true friendship is hard to come by.
There was a shoot in which she, Vimbai was to be part of, for the magazine, Miss Dee. However, that shoot HAS NOT been scheduled. Vimbai was in Abuja at the Kiss FM studios yesterday for an interview. She was not at ANY SHOOT yesterday. So claims by Denrele that Karen was (or is) in Lagos and not in Abuja yesterday may be factual.
Also, Vimbai wants to emphatically state that she is not in any way raising dust over Karen's refusal to be on the same cover of the said magazine with her. The magazine does not in any way belong to Vimbai and even though she is saddened by the turn of events, she is a peace-loving person who so far has enjoyed hospitality in Nigeria. She therefore doesn't see it fit to spread rumours over trivial issues or take matters into her hands.
Moreover, Miss Dee is a magazine that, as you read this, is still in business and has a publisher who is hale and hearty. It would be wise and rational for Mr Edun and by extension, everyone else who is interested in knowing the true facts, to contact her and hear for themselves, rather than confront Miss Vimbai.
Miss Karen Igho is an adult and is free to take any decision she wants and if she decides to not appear on the cover of the said magazine, she is free to do so. Vimbai is equally an adult and will never attempt to persuade, verbally or otherwise, anyone to go against his/her decision.
Finally, Miss Vimbai takes exception to being called "Vimpire" by Mr Denrele Edun, a term which she perceives as abusive and which is similar-sounding to the word "vampire". She would therefore like an unreserved apology on Twitter, the very same platform the term was used.
She therefore urges the general public to disregard pointers and statements about a "war" with Karen.

Man Sleeps Next To His Dead Wife For Five Years

A Vietnamese man dug up his wife’s body, molded it with clay into a female figure and put it in his bed so he could hug it every night for the past five years.
The man, 55-year-old Le Van from Ha Lam in the central Quang Nam province, is seen below with his wife’s remains and his son.

According to reports, Van began by sleeping upon his wife’s grave after she died in 2003. He said that a year and a half later he decided to dig a tunnel next to his wife’s grave so he could sleep beside her away from the rain and wind.

However, neighbors and local authorities found out about the practice and persuaded Van to stop. Subsequently in November 2004 Van returned to the grave, dug up his wife’s corpse and brought it home, where it remains today.

Van’s son, photographed below with his mother’s corpse, is said to hug her body before going to bed each night.

His father told the Lao Dong newspaper that his neighbors dared not visit him for years, but have since grown more accustomed to the idea and will now pay him a visit from time to time.

“I’m a person that does things differently. I’m not like normal people,” he was quoted as saying. “My wife’s body only passed away but her spirit still accompanies us. I have no fear when it comes to sleeping with her at all.”

Local authorities are said to be planning an inspection of the case because of new sanitation laws that rule a body must be cremated or buried, and that burials cannot be carried out in residential gardens without approval

Police launches new camouflage Uniform

The Police have launched a new operational camouflage uniform.
The Inspector General of Police, Alhaji M. D. Abubakar, who wore the new unioform has said his appearance is a process of mock display of the uniform, as one of the operational outfits of the Nigerian Police
A statement by Force Public Relations Officer, Olusola Amore, said President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the uniform.
The statement added that the uniform was acquired in line with the Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government and the “desire of the police management team to reform and to launder an acceptable image for the police through the turn-out of its officers and men.”
He added: “The camouflage comes in a admixture of black, white and grey colours, with some inherent advantages when fully integrated and confirmed as one of the official police outfits.”
According to Amore, the advantages of the new uniform include: cost effectiveness, operational durability, environmental friendliness and in-built security features to forestall impersonation.
Amore said: “The Police boss is using this medium to call on the general public to come up with constructive criticisms regarding the new police camouflage for public opinion to be given adequate consideration.”

A wheel barrow pusher jailed for selling four year-old girl in Abia

A wheel barrow pusher man, Chigoziem Nwankwo has been jailed for six years and three months by the Chief Magistrate Court 3 in Umuahia North Magisterial District of Abia State for stealing and selling a four year old girl, Miss Rejoice Ibe for N6,000.
Nwankwo a native of Lokpa Ukwu of Isuochi in Umunneochi Local Government Area,was said to have conspired with one Mr. Bashiru and stole a Nokia mobile telephone valued at N8000 and another Samsung telephone valued at N6, 000 belonging to a couple Mr. and Mrs. Sunday Ibe.
 
During arrest, it was reported that Nwankwo was violent and consequently injured the victims. In a separate case, Chigoziem was said to have sold little Miss Ibe, to the victims for N6, 000.
Delivering judgment, Magistrate E.K.O. Umah said: Having considered the nature of the offences committed by the accused person and investigations conducted by the prosecuting officer, as well as the accused person admitting to the truth of the matter, the jail terms of six years imprisonment becomes imperative.
In a related development, Mr. Ndubuisi Nnamachi, 65, was remanded in prison for allegedly killing Mr. Nweke David by setting him on fire in conspiracy with Mr. Chisom Nkuche and Okechukwu David. This incident occurred on January 21 at Akirika Ukwu in Ukwa West Local Government Area of the state.
Looking into the case before his court, magistrate E.C.N. Kalu noted that the charge falls outside the jurisdiction of his court and ordered that the matter be transferred to a high court while the accused persons remain in prison custody.

Man Attempts to Commit Suicide for Atiku, Says ‘ He must pay my 15 million naira’.

ABUJA – Trouble broke out  at the Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday, as a middle aged man, Musa Inuah Dalhatu, ascended a
telecom mast situated within the court premises, shouting that he would commit suicide if  the Chief Judge does not use his powers to compel the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to pay him his N15 million which he claimed Atiku owns him.  .
Inuah, had alleged that Atiku was to pay him the said amount for executing a project for the former Vice President during his tenure as the vice president, but was unable to get the money.
Enraged  at the apex of the mast which is equal to a 15-story building, the man said he cannot be persuaded to climb down until
either Atiku was summoned in court or the Inspector General of Police carries out an investigation on the matter while helping to recover his money.
All attempt to persuade Inuah who mounted the mast  around 12:15 on Tuesday could not yield result until around 4pm when a rescue team comprising of officers from the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA; Nigeria Federal Fire Service and a team of Police officers led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sunday Odukoya and the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Moshood Jimoh, stormed the court and ordered him to step down from the mast. The man ascended around 4.25pm after much plea and persuasion from the rescue team.
It was revealed that the man’s action was as a result of the response he got from the court clerk on the petition he filed against Atiku
Abubakar where his demand to see the chief judge was turned down by the Clerk who had advised him to go and engage the services of a legal practitioner, stating  that it was not possible for him to see the CJ unless with a credible Lawyer.
Inuah had also been advised to go and file the suit in Adamawa, stating that his case cannot be held in the Abuja Federal Court..
His dissatisfaction took him to the back of the court building after being forced out of the court and stepped up to the zenith of a mast shouting that unless his requests were met, he was not coming down
from the mast.  With his protest letter in his hands with this inscription “I will not come down until the Federal Government and Nigerians come into this matter”, he continued shouting and drawing attention.
The letter was also  copied to the IGP, the National Human Right Commission, NHRC, Public Complaint Commission, Brigadier Commander Nigerian Army Yola, Adamawa state governor, the Director of SSS Adamawa state, and the Adamawa state Emirate Council.
After been persuaded to come down, he was taken to the force headquarters in Abuja.
Meanwhile, the Media aide to the former president, shehu had dismissed the case, referring to the man as a mad man who should have been left hanging up there as Atiku cannot be indebted to an individual such as him.
According to Shehu, “We honestly suspect that this man is mental, if there is one Nigerian who pays all his bills that one is Atiku
Abubakar. If the idea of this pole climber is to get N2million from the Turaki, this certainly is not the best way to go about it.”

“Van Persie is not a good person,” – Guiterrez

Newcastle’s Jonas Guiterrez has criticized Robin van Persie’s actions in their Premier League loss on Monday. The Arsenal striker was clearly not impressed by Tim Krul’s time wasting antics and rubbed it in after Thomas Vermaelen scored the winner in the 85th minute.

“I think Van Persie was wrong. There was no need for him to do that – they have won the game, it is finished,” the Argentine said. “I can’t understand a person like that. I think it is not right. When you feel like that, it is because you are not a good person. I don’t care about the football, I’m talking about the person. When you have people who do that, it’s not right.

“We are all used to getting kicks – it’s a sport of contact – but when you have things like that, it is not right. It is not easy to accept.

“He was the only Arsenal player who reacted like that. The others were saying to him, ‘Calm down, calm down’. When you do that, the fans go crazy as well, so it’s no good for the atmosphere of the sport.

“It didn’t help the game – both sets of fans are having a good evening, they’re enjoying the game. He made a big mistake.”

The winger went on to praise his team-mate Tim Krul for his good behaviour.

“I say well done to Tim for staying calm. In a second, you can lose your mind, but we have to stay focused. I was pleased with Tim. You have to think of the next game and the rest of the season at that moment. It is no good to have a reaction and get a three-game ban or something like that.”

“D’banj never said he owns Mohits,” – Manager

Just last week, the rumours of an imminent break up between Don Jazzy and D’banj made the rounds. The reason was said to be irreconciable differences and the news had it that Don Jazzy had moved out of the Lekki apartment he shared with D’banj.
The story took a new twist, when the Koko Master, as D’banj is called, in an interview on Ebony Magazine’s official website published on March 12, 2012, claimed he owned the record label.
”Coming from Africa I’m my own manager, I have my own label called Mo’ Hits with my artistes Dr. Sid, Wande Coal, Don Jazzy, D’Prince and K-Switch,” he said. “I own Mo’ Hits and we’ve won numerous awards by the grace of God.
“Being with Kanye for the last eight months and me leading a successful label in Africa, I’ve learned a lot and I believe people will see what we’re going to do. I signed with Kanye in June and that same month I won the BET Award for Best International Act.
“My New York concert isn’t done by G.O.O.D. Music, it’s done by Live Nation, meaning I’m already a moving machine. So who’s better to introduce me to the global stage than Kanye West, a crazy genius?” he asked.
But in yet another twist, Bankuli who is D’banj’s manager, sent an e-mail to popular blogger, Linda Ikeji which read:
“Hey Linda, just to put you in the loop of things… D’banj never had any such statement with Ebony magazine during the interview he did with them. Cook absconds with employer’s N68million

A Togolese cook, Alex Flole Timo, has absconded with his employer’s $425,000, equivalent of N68 million.
The incident occurred at Femi Okunu Estate, in Lekki, Eti-Osa, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.
When all efforts to locate the fleeing suspect proved abortive, his guarantors identified as Iredia Reuben, a security guard and Favour Ezekiel, were arrested by the police.
They were arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on a 2-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The police at Maroko Division, Lekki, Lagos, alleged in their charge sheet that the accused were arrested following complaints by Felicia Omueti that her cook, Alex Flole Timo, stole her husband’s USD425,000 entrusted in her care and escaped.
All efforts by her and the two guarantors to locate his whereabouts proved futile.
She further stated that on the fateful day, 29 February, 2012, she left Alex at home and before her return, he was no where to be found.
She later discovered that the money belonging to her husband in her care had been stolen and that she suspected the guarantors to have connived with him to steal the money.
The police arrested the guarantors and took them to the station. During interrogation the duo allegedly admitted introducing the cook to the woman, but claimed that they didn’t know the whereabouts of the suspect and the missing money.
After investigation, the guarantors were charged to court for conspiracy and stealing; an offence the prosecutor Sergeant Babatunde Julius, claimed contravenes Section 409 and 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
One of the counts read: “That you Iredia Reuben, 32 and Favour, 28 and two others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal the sum of USD425,000.”
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges when it was read to them in the open court, and the presiding magistrate, Mr. W. B. Balogun admitted them to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum who must show proof of tax payment to the Lagos State government.
He adjourned the matter till 9 April 2012 for mention.
When the accused could not perfect their bail conditions in good time, they were moved to Ikoyi and Kirikiri Prisons.

A 29 year-old man jailed for 4 years for sexually assauting women in toilet

A 29 year-old Nigerian, Mr. Anthony Iyare has been jailed for four years for sexually assaulting two women in a Cambridge nightclub.
His jailed term also included three months for a separate affray charge and he would be deported to Nigeria after serving his jail term according to the Judge.
Iyare, an Edo State indigene was said to have attacked a woman in the toilets of the Fez Club in May, a year after sexually assaulting a woman he had met at the same club.
The investigation was carried out by Detective Constables Emma Beart and Paul Evans.
According to their reports “Iyare pursued both victims despite them asking him to leave them alone. This has been a long investigation and we are pleased he has now been brought to justice and a dangerous man is now behind bars.
“I would like to thank both the victims for their courage and determination throughout the investigation and trial, and also their friends and family who have shown great support throughout their ordeal”, Cambridge First quoted DC Evans as having said in court.
Iyare who resides at Walpole Road, Cambridge, England also faces deportation following his conviction. He was said to use his widowed mother’s savings to study in Cambridge.
In the first incident in the early hours of May 20, 2010, Iyare and some of his friends went back to an address in Camborne with the 21-year-old woman and her friend after pestering them in the club.
Iyare allegedly sexually assaulted her while she was sleeping. Not done, one year later, Iyare was said to have followed an 18-year-old woman into a toilet cubicle in the club before sexually assaulting her.
The lid was blown open and the security staff alerted police who promptly arrested Iyare.
During trial, Iyare however denied the charges of sexual assault and attempted rape preferred against him.
He was, however, convicted on the first attack and found guilty of an alternative charge of sexual assault for the second after the juries were hung on the attempted rape charge following a trial at Cambridge Crown Court.

Yahoo Drags Facebook To Court Over Infringement On 10 Patents

Yahoo! has filed a suit against Facebook in a California court, accusing the social networking giant of infringing on 10 patents held by the Internet pioneer.
"Yahoo! has invested substantial resources in research and development through the years, which has resulted in numerous patented inventions of technology that other companies have licensed," Yahoo! said in a statement Monday.
"These technologies are the foundation of our business that engages over 700 million monthly unique visitors and represent the spirit of innovation upon which Yahoo! is built," the Sunnyvale, California-based company said.
"Unfortunately, the matter with Facebook remains unresolved and we are compelled to seek redress in federal court," Yahoo! said. "We are confident that we will prevail."
Facebook, which was founded in 2004, a decade after Yahoo!, expressed disappointment with the Yahoo! move.
"We're disappointed that Yahoo, a longtime business partner of Facebook and a company that has substantially benefited from its association with Facebook, has decided to resort to litigation," a Facebook spokeswoman said.
"Once again, we learned of Yahoo's decision simultaneously with the media," the spokeswoman said. "We will defend ourselves vigorously against these puzzling actions."
Yahoo!, in the suit filed in US District Court for the Northern District of California, accused Facebook of infringing on patents in several areas.
"For much of the technology upon which Facebook is based Yahoo! got there first and was therefore granted patents by the United States Patent Office to protect those innovations," Yahoo! said in the suit.
"Yahoo!'s patents relate to cutting edge innovations in online products, including in messaging, news feed generation, social commenting, advertising display, preventing click fraud and privacy controls," the suit said.
"Facebook's entire social network model, which allows users to create profiles and connect with, among other things, persons and businesses, is based on Yahoo!'s patented social networking technology," it said.
Once seen as the Internet's leading light, Yahoo! has struggled in recent years to build a strongly profitable, growing business out of its huge Web presence and global audience.
Scott Thompson, formerly head of mobile payments firm PayPal, became chief executive at Yahoo! at the beginning of January promising urgent action to turn the company around.
Thompson came in after many months of turmoil over the company's direction, including deadlocked talks over possibly selling off valuable assets in China and Japan.
Two weeks after Thompson was recruited, Yahoo! co-founder and former chief executive Jerry Yang resigned from the board of directors.
A few weeks later the chairman and three other directors said they would step down, opening the way for Thompson's agenda.
Yahoo! shares were up 0.55 percent to $14.57 in after-hours trading Monday.

Nollywood Star, Jim Iyke Narrowly Escaped Being Mobbed By Female Cameroonian Fans

Nollywood controversial actor, Jim Iyke will live to retell his story after he escaped being mobbed last weekend by female fans in far away Cameroon. However, he sustained injuries after the attack.
Jim Iyke was in Cameroon to shoot his new movie, when an army of female fans suddenly besieged him while on location.


The actor was said to have sustained deep cuts in his hands, leading to his losing some amount of blood in the process before he was rushed to the hospital. The incident took place in Limbe, Cameroon.

According to Vanguard sources, as soon as the over anxious female fans learned that the controversial actor was shooting a movie in their country, they thronged the location in their tens of thousands and within minutes crowded him like bees on a honeypot- pressing to touch their idol.
The situation almost got out of hand, but the timely intervention of security men Jim Iyke would have been mobbed by the eager Cameroonian fans.
Confirming the incident online, Jim Iyke said "Yeah, it's true. Fans, kind of mobbed me in a club called Calypso, when we were shooting yesterday(last Saturday) night in Limbe, Cameroon. It got a little rowdy and a glass table with bottles of drinks next to me was broken.
"As the bouncers tried to pull me away, I slipped on the drinks on the floor and cut my two hands badly. I need three stitches on each of my fingers on the right hand and one on the left, because I lost a lot of blood, as I was bleeding profusely. The hospital was far and took some time to locate.
"I'm fine now and recuperating, but the shooting had to be suspended for a few days until the stitches can be removed.
