Omisore Proposes Nigerian Society of Engineers to Monitor Budget and Project Performance in Nigeria
Former Deputy Governor of Osun state and former Senator, Osun East, Engr. Iyiola Omisore had on Monday 16th November 2020 presented before the General Assembly of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the need for the body to have its Budget Performance and Project Monitoring Working Group (NSE-BPPMG).
Speaking during the presentation, Engr. Omisore proposed the need for the group within the Society because of the humongous yet alarming rate of the nation’s budgetary challenges and infrastructure deficit.
According to him, the proposed Budget Performance and Project Monitoring Group would ensure professional efficiency, accountability, transparency and sustainability.
The major focus, he further stressed would be on budget implementation vis-à-vis infrastructure delivery across Nigeria. Other deliverables of the proposed Group include the provision of monthly reports on the status of projects financed by public funds.
In the framework, the Group would operate as an umbrella body, providing value addition to infrastructure planning and delivery in Nigeria.
Engr. Omisore rounded off by stressing the need for the program implementation to be adopted and executed immediately as it would help the country’s infrastructure development and economic advancement.
